I am having the same issue using a Canon HV20 HD camera with Win 7 64bit RC and using Pinnacle Studio 12 to capture.

I'm planning to install the final version next week in hopes that perhaps this driver issue has been resolved since the RC was released, but will try your suggestion beforehand just to see if it does the trick. I did not try the 'troubleshoot compatibility' option so that is definitely a good suggestion. I haven't been able to work on any further troubleshooting and won't return to my office until next week to continue tests. The problem with troubleshooting is that trouble shoots back.

networkingdude, Vegas Pro recommends Vista SP1. Newtek Speededit doesn't specify a version, so use Vista SP1 for that too.

Did you use that method already? The CS4 11.01 update appears to be for Vista SP-1, so I would select that version for a compatibility install.

Try the manual compatibility method to install the edit/capture software.right click the installer file-select troubleshoot compatibility-let it grind-then select troubleshoot program-then select worked in earlier version of windows-then select a Vista version. One can assume that they will provide an update eventually as they have for Reader, Flash, and Shockwave player. Have you done any further troubleshooting on the connectivity issue with the hardware? I found nothing searching the Adobe site on Windows 7 compatibility. I have 64-bit on another test machine and will try the video camera connection via firewire to check out the issue. Hardware compatibility and software compatibility.

I can see from Adobe's site and forums that a 64-bit OS is practically a must for video work. I didn't have this problem with XP or Vista.

  • Select the driver named '1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)'.

  • This then gave me three drivers to pick from (make sure the'show compatible hardware' checkbox is ticked.
  • Then select the option 'let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.
  • Then select the option 'browse my computer for driver software'.
  • Right click this device and select 'update driver software' from the shortcut menu.
  • In my case it was NEC 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller
  • Click on the device listed underneath this heading.
  • Go to Device Manager and click on IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers.
  • The issue was the firewire (1394) driver that Windows 7 installed automatically when I connected my camcorder (Panasonic NV GS50B).

At the request of l33twannabe this is how I solved my video capture problem. Thx!įirstly apologies about proposed answer in above post, I clicked the wrong button. I appreciate any comments or suggestions. I am hoping the Win7 final will have updated the AV/C driver to remedy this issue, but can't test that just yet of course :). I wanted to bring this issue to the forum so it was at least documented, but would be happy to hear any suggestions for other troubleshooting. Again, Win7 sees the device but doesn't control it properly. Using the same DV hardware and Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, the capture module there simply does not see the devices at all so no further testing was attempted at this point with PPro. Another fix attempt to remedy this was I uninstalled SE, set XP compatibility mode for the SE installer file and reinstalled.but it made no difference. Now, Win7 claims to have installed the AV/C driver successfully, and I have tried removing/reinstalling the device several times but the same result occurs. My issue with SE is when I try to capture from either source via firewire, I can get deck control (play/pause/ff/rew) but no video or audio passes thru for the capture-this occurs with both sources on Win7 but not on Vista or XP. For capture I use a Sony GV-HD700 and a Canon XH-A1. The first app I have tested (and is my primary post-production tool) is Newtek Speededit(SE) 1.5.5. I work quite a bit with digital video, so I wanted to test my editing programs with Win7 圆4.

Figured I'd post this fully understanding that I'm working off the Win7 RC (7100).
